March 10, 2012 Program & Workshop – Pan Pastels

M. Theresa Brown is a full time pastel artist who raised her children as a single parent creating pastel portraits of animals and families. Ms. Brown, whose studio is in Wake Forest, NC. has over 25 years of experience with pastels and recently started to work with Pan Pastels and Pastel mat board.

On March 10, 2012, at The Appalachian Pastel Society Meeting from 10-12am, Theresa will be presenting the amazing variety of ways to use Pan Pastels effectively. She will demonstrate the use of pan pastels in landscape and portraiture. Also part of the demonstration will be an in depth discussion of the pros and cons (very few if used properly), the use of the tools that accompany pan pastels and how pan pastels work on a variety of surfaces. This meeting is open to the public at no charge.

The afternoon seminar, from 1-4pm, Theresa will guide us though creating a portrait or landscape of your own. Bring your own pastels and we will have some pan pastels for you to use. Working with Pan Pastel we are also putting together a good basic set to get you started at an inexpensive price.

Supplies needed: Pan Pastels, Pastels of your choice, Pastel Mat Board (rather than buying a whole pad we will have sheet available for sale at the workshop), other paper of your choice.

This will be a fun and extremely informative workshop, changing the way you use pastels forever.

Workshop is $45 for members and $55 for non-members. Register soon as it will fill up quickly.
