History of the North Carolina Juried Statewide Exhibition

The North Carolina Statewide Pastel Juried Exhibition is a collaborative event of the collective efforts three pastel societies of NC: Appalachian Pastel Society (APS), Pastel Society of NC (PSNC) and Piedmont Pastel Society (PPS). Its mission is to inspire artists, enhance the public’s appreciation for the lasting value and beauty of the medium of soft pastels, and to establish North Carolina as an emerging cultural market. Hosting of the show will rotate among the groups. The 2012 show was sponsored by PSNC. The 2013 show will be hosted by the Appalachian Pastel Society, centered in Asheville, NC, with the Piedmont Pastel Society, based in Charlotte, NC, hosting the 2014 show. These exhibits are for the members of these three societies to showcase the talents of the artists within each group.

Receiving and Shipping

To Ship

Please ship your paintings, with a Pre-Paid return label, to arrive between May 6 and May 13,

2013 , weekdays only, from 9 AM- 5 PM.

Paintings should be shipped to the Hickory Museum of Art at the above address.

Paintings will be shipped back on Tuesday, August 20, 2013.

Please package your paintings carefully for shipping. Be sure to use a sturdy box. A two part box is easy to open. We highly recommend using Airfloat Systems, www.airfloatsys.com. This can be bought from them. Wrap paintings carefully. Fill all voids. Make sure the painting cannot shift during transport. DO NOT use styrofoam peanuts. We will not repack it with them. Pink foamboard insulation from Lowe’s or Home Depot works well and can be easily cut and re-used. New bubble wrap (Large bubbles) works fairly well, also. Be sure to mark the “Top” and “Front” of the box. Hand write your name and address somewhere on the box. Don’t depend on a shipping label for your box ID, and be sure that it is also located somewhere inside the box.

Be sure to place an Identification label on the back of your painting that contains the painting’s title, your name and contact info (not your address). Be sure to make a copy of this info and the painting submission info for your records. Prices cannot be changed after submission of your paintings into the show.
