July 13, 2013 Member Meeting – “Paint-A-Round” at our New Location

The July APS Meeting promises to be a lot of fun. We are going to bring back the “Paint-A-Round”. Everyone gets a chance to paint on a masterpiece whether or not they have had any experience in painting pastels. Several (7-10) more experienced members have agreed to each set up an easel, and begin a painting using their own pastels and a subject matter. They have agreed to let everyone use their pastels. After 15 minutes a bell will ring and someone else gets to paint on the work in progress. At 15 minutes intervals the bell will ring for a change of artist at each easel. At the end of an hour and a half, all work is stopped and the original artist goes back to their painting to finish it up in 15 minutes. The difference between this and the one at IAPS is that at IAPS only those who set up the paintings may rotate through the paintings, painting on all of the others only once. In ours, the audience works on the paintings. We have gotten some really good paintings from this lesson. One of the paintings from APS’ second year, 2007, will be up for auction at the meeting. Eight of the original members worked on it. Karen will try to post it this week. For more info or to volunteer to be a STARTER contact Karen Chambers at 828-665-8538 or karenpaints@hotmail.com

The meeting will be held on the AB Tech Enka campus, Sat. July 13, 10:00am.
