…Linda Couter:  “Water, Reflections and Light”

.

“I especially love painting landscapes, most Joe's Pondespecially on location.  I find reflections in water, fall colors, the drama of beach scenes, rocks and buildings fascinating.

It all lends itself beautifully to pastels — with textures, the blending of colors that the eye may not see.”

About Linda:

” I was born in East Orange, New Jersey, and after having lived there all my life, I haveLindaCoulter recently moved to East Tennessee.  I have worked with pastels for the past 20 plus years after having been introduced to them during a life class – it was a natural progression from pencil and charcoal.  Pastels lend itself beautifully to any subject in any style – with texture and color layering, both complimentary and local.
Landscapes are my favorite subject to paint, often on location, but also enjoy doing still lifes and portraits.  I am excited by what I see, and my goal is to interpret it in a way that touches the viewers’ emotion.  It’s about color, value and light, and telling a story, often using underpaintings in watercolor, ink, pastel/alcohol and artgraf/water.
I taught weekly for 18 years in two art associations in New Jersey, along with private individuals and groups.  I have taught plein air workshops, locations including Cozumel, Taos, Italy, Rhode Island.  I take at least one workshop a year with a master pastelist, both on location and studio.”
Linda Coulter has won numerous awards from Pine Shores Art Association and Ocean County Artists Guild, 2016 Audubon Society Salmagundi Club NY, 2017 Uart On-line Competition, 2017 IAPS, 2018 Knoxville Plein Air Event, 2018 Award of Excellence Pastel Society of North Carolina Juried Exhibition.
