J. Kay Gordon Painting in National Pastel Exhibition

Swannanoa, North Carolina (October 28, 2010) – The Appalachian Pastel Society has awarded Marshall artist J. Kay Gordon, PSA, First Place at their 2nd Annual National Juried Exhibition currently being held at the Haywood County Arts Council, Gallery 86, in Waynesville.

For excellence shown in her painting, ‘The Blue Motorcycle’, Gordon received a $500 Gift Certificate from Terry Ludwig Pastels, and a cash award from the WNC-based Appalachian Pastel Society, whose purpose is the promotion, enjoyment and development of pastel art.

Gordon’s painting, ‘The Blue Motorcycle’ was one of 49 paintings accepted for exhibition from 130 entries submitted from across the U.S. The exhibition at Gallery 86, located at 86 N Main Street in Waynesville, will continue through November 13. Gallery hours are 10-5, Monday through Saturday.

Gordon is a Pastel Society of America Signature Member (PSA) who has received awards at art exhibitions throughout the countryShe is currently serving as President for the regional Appalachian Pastel Society.
